WHAT ARE FADS?

Basically, Fads are nothing but a sudden rise of mass interest or enthusiasm for something ( let's say a style, a look, a manner, etc) and is very short lived.

Honestly speaking , I have been a person who would observe a fad and it phases and enjoy creating its variation rather than being a part of it ( sometimes I may be late to couple of them too ). It's not that I haven't tried shopping for a rising fad, but I usually find myself paying for what I like at the moment instead of paying to look like everyone else.

But again, I won't say  I haven't followed any fads. Obviously I have! That is why they were labelled as fads ! ( because they had the power to attract a huge mass of Public)

Here are some fads that I feel I religiously followed.

Hairdo and haircuts 

Well, I have experimented with my hair  quite a number of times. For example, I cut my hair after being inspired from a fad related to the ' wolf cut  (which was going viral on social media at that time ) and hairstyle of a sitcom character 'Rachel Green ' ( played by Jennifer Aniston)  from F.r.i.e.n.d.s.

I  started doing a sleek hair bun as an easy go- to hairdo when it was popular on the internet and many actresses(  such as Jennifer Lawrence, Zendaya, Deepika Padukone etc) had joined the fad.

The Cateyes and clear glasses

The ' Cat-eye glasses' , a trend of 1930s, emerged back in 2019 . And what about me, you ask? I Plunged right in !! 

Similarly , clear glass frames were very popular for a certain period of time in 2020- 2021. It was seen on the displays and  posters of all optical shops and I was ready to give it a try !


Heavy earrings as a statement piece

Quite a few years back, many stylists used earrings as the main statement piece of the entire look, and it was the only piece of jwellery on the women's face. This balance was newly viewed and followed by many. Even I participated in this way of accessorizing. Yet I think I could have worked with even bigger and wider earrings. Let's hope this fad returns someday ,and I would nail the look then !

Ribbed Jeans

EVERY  single person owned atleast one Torn and ribbed jeans  during this fad. One could very  easily spot a person wearing a  ribbed pair of jeans. But of all I know, I vividly remember that this fad definitely wasn't considered just as appealing, by the older Generations and the Senior Citizens.

The long acrylic nails

During the peaks of popularity of Female rappers and singers in 2019 - 2021 , the fad for long acrylic nails started rising. Now,  if you remeber (I know , you definitely do ), that these were the times of Covid and quarantines  and everyone was forced to stay at home. This was the time I tried to join the fad by making my own long clay nails just in order to join the fad !

Yes, that's true!  It's true that now when we look back, we might really question the uprisings of some of these fads, but these were just  temporary  short lived interests, and therefore, we should not attach any sorts of regrets to it ( I know , this might seem super difficult ) , and simply try to have a positive take away from each of them.
