Hola everyone ! We are back!  Today, let's get into something, that  highly fascinated me years ago and still does. Ooh , I am excited !

Give me a drumroll for the ......The Strawberry Dress !! Who doesn't remeber this beauty, and the glory it carries in its tulle. Over a short period of time we could see different fashion adopters, feeling its  hype very differently. So let's see how was it variable from adopter to adopter, but first let know a little about the dress .

Strawberry dress was designed by a NewYork -based , born in Kosovo,  designer Likira Matoshi and made people go all head over heels on the social media. The dress came out  in July 19 and the dress  managed to be the hot potato in the fashion industry for a very long time. It gained popularity rapidly in a very short period of time.

THE INVENTORS

Designer Likira Matoshi invented this pink fairy-like master piece.  This was during the time of Pandemic when the dress came out. It's a dreamy , fairy - floss like looking tulle dress with a plunging neckline and slightly puffy sleeves. The dress is something all women of all ages dream of. It feels like coming from the cottagecore genre but carries elegance of its own.  The popularity also lies in its ideas of representation. It provides hope, romance and a huge scope for fantasizing.  “The dress itself reflects an idea of better times,” said Matoshi in a conversation with Vogue.

EARLY ADOPTERS

For this tulled masterpiece, early Adopters would be the the actresses and the Models like Tess Holiday , who wore the Strawberry dress at Grammys even before the dress came out on Social media. Surprisingly, she turned out to be the leader as well as the victim. She was the medium of display of the Strawberry dress , making her the earliest adopter, but the dress failed to gain attention and appreciation at Grammys. It wasn't until the tik tok hype , that the dress was praised .

On this Tess Holiday reacted on this, saying  “I like how this dress had me on worst dressed lists when I wore it in January to the Grammys, but now bc a bunch of skinny ppl wore it on TikTok everyone care, to sum it up: our society hates fat people, especially when we are winning.”

EARLY MAJORITY

Here the early majority would be the Tik Tok-ers, content creators  and the fashion Influencers over the internet. For example , a 20- year old Content creator , Avery Mayeur , ordered the dress on the same day and received the same on the next day itself . Her unboxing video of the Strawberry dress got her whopping 5 Million views on Tik tok. She admitted that she wore the dress" all the time at home" for the videos, as well as out of them. Yet she said “It is a kind of dress you need a reason to wear.” in a chat with Vogue.

Another fashion  influencer Sarah Humbly,  stitched the dress herself due to the unavailability of her size in the dress.  She told new York times “Everyone always looks so happy when they’re wearing it because it’s such a treat to wear . I’m plus size and they don’t carry it in my size — I’m a 22-24 — so I could never own it, even if I really wanted to,”. Therefore she made the dress herself  from the free patterns on Mood Fabrics and sourced the fabrics from Silk Baron and Etsy. “I wanted to make a video inspired by the strawberry dress so people who can’t own the original but have the skills to sew can at least have their own version of the dress,” she explained.

Many other fashion Influencers joined to this pink trend during that quarantine period .

LATE MAJORITY

Late majority  would be the the Followers that were impressed by the hype growing on the internet. Many posted and shared their experience of buying the dress and about how it made them feel.

For example, New York Times featured thoughts of Serena pinuelas, 22 year- old  nonbinary ceramist from Portland, Ore. and an active netizen.

“The dress just really just sparks joy in people during such an unsettling time. It’s kind of like a symbol of hope and empowerment, almost.” she said. She admits , she was obsessed with the dress since her first encounter with the post it came out with.

She tells about when it arrived in the mail, “I basically had a little mini heart attack because I was so excited.” The experience of wearing the dress is “probably the best I’ve felt in a few months,”.

There are numerous others on social media who were flaunting  their smiles with this dress on the social media.

THE LAGGARDS

The laggards were also on the the social media and other mediums of contact. Many used the popularity and the hype of the dress, while some variations of the dress were created , made and sold on the internet.

For example, The Black Strawberry dress and other corrupted versions of this dress were sold in the market.

The Strawberry Dress , as well as its blackened version  was featured in the Famous digital  game , named Animal Crossing.

However, Matoshi's creation had taken the internet by storm during that time . The talented designer with her sister wish to continue making such designs that bring people closer with smiles and hopes in hard times.

So, this is how we can see types of Adopters in  Fashion !
